1. What is the difference with attend Al-Anon meetings and participates fully in Al-Anon meetings?
Committee Response: Fully participating means having a Home Group
2. RESPONSIBILITIES OF A NH AREA ALATEEN SPONSOR: Page 5 Participates in quarterly NH Area 35 Alateen AMIAS meetings. Is this one of the requirements for Alateen Coordinator to hold quarterly meetings?
Committee Response: The committee feels there is a need for quarterly meetings for AMIAS to feel connected to each other and subsequently to the Area. The Handbook and Job Descriptions document require that the Coordinator ?Hold sponsor meetings periodically?.
3. ADULT ATTENDANCE AT ALATEEN MEETINGS: Page 6 The DR may attend any Alateen meeting within their district by group invitation but must leave after the opening is read. (Why attend at all if you have to leave if you cannot stay for the meeting???)
Committee Response: According to the Service Manual, this is the only time a DR may attend. The committee felt it was important to include for clarification
4. The NH Area 35 Officers who are not AMIAS may attend any Alateen meeting by group invitation but must leave after the opening is read. (Again, why attend and leave???)
Committee Response: As with #3 this is included for clarification
5. Why was Page 16 added and noted as (Form 7A)? This book is not being published anymore and has more information on it than an Alateen Sponsors needs with soooo much info in the packet already.
Committee Response: The bookmark is included as another available tool
6. Going from 16 pages to 26 pages???
Committee Response: The committee feels all documents/forms need to be included in the Requirements document. Over time pieces of the required documents get misplaced or forgotten. Having all the needed documents in the Area 35 Al-Anon Members Involved in Alateen Service (AMIAS) Requirements provides everything the Alateen Coordinator and AAPP need and provides KBDM for members who are interested in becoming an AMIAS. No one has to guess.

7.
On Pg 8: On the fourth bullet point
down "Whenever an Alateen member is being
transported...." The entire statment seems to say
that the only circumstance in which transportation is
provided is medical. Is that the intent? I
would think that transport might involve things other than
medical.
Committee Response:The permission form needs to be in the possession of the AMIAS for all Alateen transport.
8.
On Pg 11: #3: "I have been attending
at least one Al-Anon meeting weekly..." This means
that missing one weekly meeting in two years is a
disqualifier. This seems overly rigid and
restrictive. Previous language in the 2003 Board of
Trustees Motion on Pg 25, speaks to "regularly attending
Al-Anon meetings. That's quite a change.
Committee Response:The committee felt that it is important for AMIAS
to attend meetings consistently.
Al-Anon/Alateen is an honest program so the
presumption is AMIAS will get to meetings regularly –
‘attendance’ will not be taken.
9. I wanted to make a suggestion to
have the age requirement changed from 23 to 21 in
order to be an Al-Anon Member in Alateen Service
person. We have a member who would like to be an
AMIAS and cannot because of the age requirement. And
in other states she could be an AMIAS, but she wants
to serve for NH and cannot.
Committee Response: One of the reasons for the
age of 23 in the requirements is because Alateens 'can be'
Alateens until they turn 20-some stay until the turn 21.
The committee felt collectively that 21 year olds are too
close to the 'Alateen age' to be an AMIAS; that 2 years in
Al-Anon really starts at 20; possibly 21.
One of the Alateens who served on
the original committee was the one who suggested 23! He
felt that 21 year olds are too close in age. That
committee discussed the age requirements as did the
current committee and the consensus is to leave the age
at 23.
